Baited a camera trap with a road killed deer, and got photos of a nice
variety of animals, including this bobcat. For more bobcat photos and

Nice shot. The cat's lucky it got to save some energy with a ready-made meal (or several).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susan. I am hoping to get him rolling around in catnip next. Sprinkled some out there this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way, the coyotes dragged the carcass away again, and I couldn't find it. So I moved my camera back to the original site, and baited with catnip there. Feel free to come move yours back to the original site.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I don't plan to "freshen" that area with additional catnip, because it's too close to pets/livestock. What do you think about sprinkling some nip at our pond site? I'm thinking we might get some daylight shots, since it's further from people.
I like it. The 'nip will be a nice lure.
ReplyDeleteAny pictures from the "catnip" effect?
ReplyDeleteMy wife and 2 teenage daughters took a walk out to Dana common yesterday afternoon (Sunday 8/17). On our way out from gate 40, we were lucky enough to see a Porcupine scaling a tree about a mile & a half from the common. On our way back out, we were exceptionally lucky enough to see a Bobcat cross in front of us from left to right. It was amazing and a very rare occurance. We were about a 1/4 mile from the deer check in shack heading back towards the gate. Approximately 150 yards in front of us coming out of the woodline was a Bobcat. It sauntered across the road rather leisurely until I pointed out to my family "Hey look, a Bobcat". It stopped for a brief moment and then picked up it's pace hopping back into the woodline on the right side of the road. It's always exciting to witness nature you otherwise wouldn't see. Especially when it's something as elusive as a Bobcat!! It made our night!!!
